Boat Ownership Registration & Canadian Sail Number

To register your Optimist, or to apply for a Canadian sail number, contact the CODA Registrar, at: [email protected] .

Please provide the following information:

Brand new boat:

  1. The ISAF plaque number (see blue sticker with a six digit number in the boat, please provide picture);
  2. The date built;
  3. The date measured;
  4. The name of the measurer;
  5. The hull weight;
  6. The weight of corrector, if any;
  7. The date of certification;
  8. The name of the builder.

This information is available in the measurement booklet that came with the boat. Please provide pictures or scans of the appropriate pages.

The boat’s ISAF hull number will be assigned to the owner and a new Canadian sail number will be issued.

Second hand boat with Canadian sail number:
1. New owner’s (sailor’s) name and address;
2. ISAF plaque number (see blue sticker with a six digit number in the boat);
3. Existing sail number.

The boat’s ISAF hull number and the Canadian sail number will both be re-assigned to the new owner. If database is incomplete, further information may be requested.

USA or foreign boat (second hand or new):

  1. The ISAF plaque number (see blue sticker with a six digit number in the boat, please provide picture);
  2. The date built;
  3. The date measured;
  4. The name of the measurer;
  5. The hull weight;
  6. The weight of corrector, if any;
  7. The date of certification;
  8. The name of the builder.

This information is available in the measurement booklet that came with the boat. Please provide pictures or scans of the appropriate pages.
